Just Like London Busses!
We're really proud to have our second Junior, Calum Ruth, one of our Comets, to be selected to represent London Region on 19th October in an Inter Regional mob match against South East Region at the Olympic Park Velodrome, ironic really as initially we almost joined the South East Region. Calum's the lad in the middle of "The Three Amigo's" picture below.
So we now have two young Comets who can show what our club is about.

The 1st Comet to represent London Region!
Mack Downey was the 1st Comet ever to be selected by London Region to represent the region for the British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships at the National Water Sports Centre, in Nottingham on 22nd August 2014
Mack qualified in T2 even though he was in the younger year/ half of over 80 youngsters.
At the finals, each IRC race had 36 athletes - 3 from each of the 12 regions
T2 category raced 300m open water swim, 5km bike and 1800m run.
Mack was 16th, in a time of 22.07, with another year to race in the same age group. Here's Mack resplendent in his London Region kit.
So, there may even better placings to be had next year. Very well done Mack, we're proud of you!
"The curse of the Roseheim League" and Turbo / track 14th May.
Appraisal of the 14th May substitute Track session.
I think all would agree we had a brill Comet inter team session which included some of the parents. We were blessed with good weather and great support from everyone involved in Comets. We had our highest numbers with sixteen taking part in the relays/shuttle races. It's a location to use again if need be.
Junior bike acquisition. We have now purchased a couple of small bikes for the juniors to borrow and use specifically at races to give themselves a better chance than using mountain bikes. See me to arrange, on a first come first served basis. They can only be borrowed for the race weekend then returned, updated 10.00am 5-3-2014
This Sunday the 9th March, we're going to run another taster ride and run from Brooklands Community park, Sopwith Drive, Weybridge. How to find meeting point. Go past red marker on map (below) to next roundabout. Take the little slip road into the community park car park (opposite the Tescoes superstore) and just park up. We'll meet in the car park by the swings.
We'll be doing a combination of how to ride safely, braking, steering & how to use your gearing correctly. Please make sure you have appropriate clothing & equipment i.e. gloves, helmet, water proof top, water bottle and please bring a watch. Ninety minutes is a long time if you're cold! Parents to stay on site (car park) please. This is our second time at Brooklands and it's a fantastic training ground for preparing you for any racing you may do. If it's successful it will become a regular session on the calendar. We're putting this on for the members so please support it, if we don't get enough takers it won't happen!
