Review of The Junior Summer Triathlon Course

Review of The Junior Summer Triathlon Course

Tri Course. End of week 1. Ripping it up!

Well, we've just got the end of week one on the summer Tri course and what a brilliant time the kids have given me & Jenny Derham. We've rocked all over the place on a safe, varied and eventful three mornings. The four youngsters on the course were a revelation. Monday was finding out about the ability of the group. We ended up in Richmond park learning how to ride the downhill road humps! Wednesday saw Jenny leading out her British cycling skills & drills on a closed circuit which tested our close bike handling skills (yes, the type used in velodrome riding). We even had a slow race, this is the one where the rider with the best braking, balance and control can take forever to go twenty metres, brilliant to watch. Friday saw a mixture of swim, transition skill development, more bike handling tests, snakey rides, riding in pace line finishing up with wheel removal and changing an inner tube. By the end of the three mornings these junior triathletes had meta morphed from making me/us extremely nervous into a confident group of riders were proud of. Roll on the next installment of the courses starting Monday 11th August.
We still have places free, it would be a shame for junior Triathletes to miss the opportunity to do something different from the norm. Enrollment forms on website on the courses and events page.

Week 2. In The Beginning..........
Second week sees a few decent athletes joining us (Jenny and myself). So far we've covered lots of miles in the two hours, lots of bike skill awareness within the riding, an awful lot of British Cycling coaching tips from our bike coach Jenny and running hill reps in Richmond park. There's so much we can do to enhance already competent Junior Triathlete it's mind boggling! We've learnt to stretch on the bike, scoot, scoot/mount, scoot/dismount and all pretty safely. We've still got places for next week and ACS Cobham is not full so if you want a bagful of training covered in fun you can sign up still. Go to the "Courses & Events" page to download a form.
