Extra Bike training

I'm putting on two extra sessions in the mornings during the Easter holidays, 10a.m.Tuesday 7th at Hillingdon and 10a.m Thursday 9th April in Richmond park. (Pen Ponds car park). The cost will be minimal just to cover the coaching cost. They'll be a minimum hour and a half sessions so a great benefit for the confidence of all the little Comets racing triathlon and Duathlon. I'll give more info regarding time, place & cost at the sessions this week.

A Few News Items And Tonight's Track 

Training session posts
I've just added a "Training session" page at the bottom of the sidebar. This week I've posted the track session for both Juniors and Seniors early on this page, have a quick look to familiarise yourselves as to how our system works. It's really simple. The times are the same for both groups only the distance changes. We can have a good twelve year old as fast as a Senior so it's not age that counts but stamina and endurance capability which the juniors haven't yet developed, hence the shorter distance.

Last Saturdays inaugural bike run
A good turnout last Saturday saw a group of Comets in Bushy park for the very first bike - run session. 
This Saturday were putting in a 20 to 30 minute run as well as a "skills & ride bike" section. This venue is great for different safe terrain for the youngsters to ride through, we hardly saw anyone else, it was great!
Just a reminder to bring enough clothes, a bike lock, you also won't be allowed to ride without a helmet, it's compulsory!

 

Tonight's track 16-04-14
Tonight back to Turbo/brick session for the bike. After the warm up on the bike we're putting in a "surprise" interspersed 400 run bursts.  Different from two weeks ago in that we've put a few 400 in and it's an all together run. You won't know when it's coming, A great little sharpener. This is taking into consideration the need for brick sessions. For the track runners it's 1.600's 1.200s, 800's & 400's All the coaches do put the emphasis on technique so if they pick you up on something it's for your benefit, see you later.

The longer base work has been done now for the short, sharp reps of speed work  Turbo is running as last week only change is it's coach Jenny putting you through it!  Different from two weeks ago in that we've put 2 x 400 and an 800 in and it's an all together run. Tonight's Track & Turbo 2nd April 2014

Next Wednesday 9th April Track / Turbo session. 
Next Wednesday is a run only session. Reason being, I'm away snowboarding (again!) 
I usually take the spare turbo trainers and the couple of loan bikes so rather than ask Ian/Jenny to collect and lug them around it's easier to concentrate on run only. It's going to be 400's. 

All  Turbo / Track Sessions
We've deliberately & specifically split the two disciplines into separate sessions so come prepared to do one or other. As you can see there is also a modicum of run at the end of turbo. Why?   Well, many Triathletes don't get chance to do "brick" sessions or don't think there necessary, they are, for all race purposes. There will always now be ten minutes stretch near the end of the session so bring enough warm clothes for the cool down

If you've had your two week paid trial and you haven't registered for the year and paid the £20 registration fee you need to, that's the club rules There is no commitment binding you to race under our banner if you're membership is with another club, however we do need the medical forms and relevant info.  Whoever you're registered with at Triathlon England that's your first claim club.

Tonight's session 12th February. We've decided to do a track session only tonight. Reason being if it decides to pour with rain on us it's better to be running around
than a sitting duck waiting to get wet! Sorry about that but we think it's best.
